Relationship, Attachment and Trauma Counselling in Singapore

“Just like the unintended dip in the sand bed, there will come a time when the impact of the trauma we endured could be repatterned with consistency and rhythm.

With the right support and tools, wholeness is within reach.” - Rene Tan, Counsellor

The Experience

  • Like all good therapy, we talk. You share what’s been happening, what’s been hurting, what keeps showing up. You will be held in a space of genuine safety — where nothing you bring is too much, and nothing you feel is wrong.

But we also slow down enough to notice what happens in your body as we talk — the tightness mid-sentence, the breath that changes, the urge to pull away from a feeling.

Unlike some somatic approaches like TRE (Tension/ Trauma Release Exercise), there are no exercises, no shaking, no mat work. What unfolds is a slower, more attuned kind of conversation — one that listens not only to your words but to what lives beneath them. As Bessel van der Kolk wrote, the body keeps the score. Let’s learn to understand what it’s been trying to tell you.

  • Many somatic approaches work directly with the body — Tension / Trauma Release Exercises (TRE) , movement practices. These work for certain individuals. But they work outside of a relationship from your thoughts and what you have experienced. Context is often not a factor in such processes.

At Somatic Attachment Therapy, we work with the body within talk therapy and the therapeutic relationship. Because attachment wounds happened in relationship — they heal in relationship too.

  • ∙ More space between trigger and reaction

∙ Staying present without shutting down or spiralling

∙ Relationships that feel less like walking on eggshells

    ∙ A quieter inner critic

∙ Feeling enough — without having to earn it

∙ Self-regulation - the ability to experience safety within your self

∙ Reconnection with who you truly are
